Lily Healey

After stepping away from Stoke Sixth Form College, taking a gap year not as a pause, but as a way of resting and gathering time to live and soak the world up. This September, she will move to Salford to immerse herself in university life and deepen her study of art  though in truth, she’s been living art since she could first hold a pencil.

Drawn to the darker undercurrents of existence, Lily’s work is steeped in the raw truths of the human condition. Her art doesn’t shy away from death, decay, or disillusionment, instead, it embraces them as part of the circle of life. This recurring theme pulses through the work she is exhibiting during her HD experience, challenging viewers to confront what many would rather look away from.

Her pieces speak in tones of defiance and unrest rebellion against systems, expressions of mood, rage, and the politics of being. Whether personal or societal, her work is a visceral response to the world’s injustices. Lily doesn’t create to decorate she creates to provoke, to question, to scream when silence would be easier.
