This blog is little bit different this week as we are celebrating officially making our project installation live this week at Emmaus in Hanley. With a lot of planning, running around and teamwork we managed to get the installation up and running. We can't wait to share with you the progress and the different people that we have worked with to create this project.
The Opening
The amazing Conor from Warm This Winter came to Stoke, for the first time, on Wednesday to come and lend us some help and support.
Conor was a great in keeping morale high and it was really exciting being able to show them exactly what it is that we've been up to.
It honestly helped us to reflect and realise just what exciting things we've been doing over the last few months.
With the banner up, the illustrations printed, the tv on, the foundation of the exhibition is all up and ready to be fleshed out.
In order to work better together and build more interest for the exhibition, we had our launch day on the same day of the official opening of the Emmaus Emporium
The patron of the charity is a brilliant man called Sir Terry Waite who has lived several lives and is an inspiration to us all. He was kind enough to have a proper sit down with us and talk about Emmaus and why now more than ever charities like this are needed.
Our brilliant Lord Mayoress Lyn Sharp was also happy to promote local organisations and charities that people can reach out to in this current crisis.
The Installation
We have a room, a bedsit if you will that has been put together inside of the Emmaus charity emporium.
A room that has barebones of a bed, a tv and a set of drawers.
The tv set shows a mixture of documentaries that we have been a part of about the cost of living.
Our three walls that make up the room have also been brought to life with 3d illustrations by Chris, giving it another layer of creativity.
The dollhouse is complete and standing tall with pride as a beautifully executed example of what an eco-friendly house could look like.
The Plan
Over the next few weeks we will be holding drop-ins and creative workshops that will; towards creating artwork to go into the living installation.
With the public's help, the show will evolve and adapt using the tip and ideas that are shared as a community (ie. bubble wrapping windows, sleeping bag on beds)
The documentary that is being pieced together as it grows, the installation will progress as more artwork is added from the workshops; it's a living exhibition that will be completed at the end of the year.
We will have a celebratory closing to show how the installation has evolved and to highlight the hard work and involvement form everyone who has been involved in this project.
