We've had a good mix of weather, got to meet a good mix of people and all in between our usual admin, as well as expanding our Illustrator and After Effects skills, as well eating a bit of cake of course.
HD1.1
As we creep closer to our August event, we’re excited to say that only about a quarter of our tickets are left, so if want to know follow the link here.
We’ve also designed a little map that we will publish in the next couple of weeks, as the main feedback from our first event was about the entrance (which is fair), so we’ve listened and done our best to help.
Also be sure to check our socials as we’ll be sharing more about the different artist we’ve got lined up for this one, so go check those awesome people out here.
JABALI PUBLICATIONS
We recently had the pleasure of looking at a beautiful variety of zines published by local artist Jabali Publications (Ha-ba-lee).
Jabali, a.k.a Eve Donnadieu, has published a range of handcrafted zines, from mini street photo book to story-based fine art book about family history.
Seeing this huge variation in books, really gave us some inspiration on how much potential our zine plans with Bench Notes ( Alex Hough) has; go check our her Etsy store (will be back open when she’s back from on tour).
END OF THE WEEK
To end the week, we met up with our amazing friend Ruby Sufi (we mentioned her and Sarah last week) for a foraging walk; it’s what she does.
Ruby is an artist who works with natural materials, focusing mainly on nettles it seems; the humble “pest” found everywhere is actually incredible (I’m aware many people know this but we’re still learning new things, we are industrial city folk haha). She shared with us its amazing uses, its history and gave us a demo on how to strip and bind (two different things) it to create fibres and also strong sting.
We wanted to help showcase what Ruby does, by filming her day out; along with kindly throwing Mitch into the deep end on his first day back.
All in all it was a great day; the weather was on our side, we learned loads from Ruby, and rounded off the day with some well-earned cake at a lovely place, called Spout, in Leek (yes, Teddy the rucksack came along too).
